#30. Meet a celebrity.

This Thursday night, WWE Smackdown! will be broadcasting from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Of course, Smackdown! is pre-taped on Tuesdays, so we here in Edmonton already know the outcome of Thursday's shows. The other benefit of this is the fact that many of the WWE Smackdown! superstars were in town on Monday night for the next day.

Enter the Big Show. Monday afternoon at about 3p.m, Chambers and I went down to WEM to partake in the autograph signing that the Big Show was going to be at. Granted, we were there 3 hours early, but we were about tenth in line to get an autograph from the 7 foot tall, 500 pound man himself.

Then we had to wait for Mr. Conrad, who showed up late and was about an hour down the line from us. So Chambers and I went scouring the mall for more superstars, who are rumored to hang out there when their in town.

First, we went to Bourbon Street, a fairly fancy strip in the mall where all the posh restaurants are. We checked the only non-posh restaurant, Hooters, where some of the wrestlers were supposedly spotted last year, but we struck out. Unperturbed, we continued on down Bourbon Street where we met Rene Dupree and Scotty 2 Hotty.

Scotty and Rene were apparently looking for a place to eat (for the record, they went to Tony Romas) and didn't seem too keen on autographs or pictures, but they did give us a hand-shake and acknowledge the fact that they were indeed WWE superstars.

Emboldened by this, we headed over the Galaxyland, which is one of the mall's two big tourist traps. Wandering through there, we encountered Johnny Nitro and Melina checking out the park, and got ourselves another handshake and hello, but not much else.

That seemed to be the extent of our luck, and we rejoined Mr. Conrad who got his autograph from Big Show, then went down to Boston Pizza for a meal. Afterwards, we went to leave the mall and were lucky enough to run into Akio, Paul London and Carlito Caribbean Cool all heading over to HMV. Though Carlito joked that he was just a camera man, the three of them were totally approachable, and Paul London was incredibly friendly. They were even nice enough to do some pictures with us.

So, my #30 is now beaten to death. I've met, in one day, Big Show, Rene Dupree, Soctty 2 Hottie, Johnny Nitro, Melina, Carlito Caribbean Cool, Paul London and Akio. Also, I got photographic evidence of it.

It's hilarious. I somehow doubt the guy made it home alive.
