#42. & #43. Totally Done

Nita and I went with my folks down to Klondike Days here in Edmonton last evening.

Usually speaking, I go to the midway with friends. The idea there is that my friends like to go on thrill-rides with me. Nita and my folks, on the other hand, are wussies. So no thrill-rides for them.

This is why I created #42 on my list, the whole point was to talk Nita into going on a ride with me.

Now, admittedly, we didn't go on anything as wild as the Zipper, and I had to go on the Speed Flip by myself, but I did manage to talk Nita into going on the roller coaster with me, and the Scrambler.

She decided she wanted to go on the roller coaster a second time, so I'll say that #42 is done, barring getting her to go on the Speed Flip with me next year.

On our way out, we played, like, six games of Ski-Ball to try and win something. It was all for naught. As usual, with carnival games, the odds are thoroughly stacked against you, and the 200 point mark for Ski-Ball is at least hard to hit.

I ended up playing the ducky game to win Nita a prize, but a prize she won and that's all that matters. She seemed more impressed that I cared enough to win her a prize, and that made me happy.

So, in the end, we both had a great time and the fair. I went on crazy rides, Nita and I went on not-as-crazy rides, we ate terribly greasy food (my corndog was mostly batter... ugh) and watched the fireworks. Fun!

Also, scratch two off my list. Next year, I'll bring some other friends again.

#66. Read "Song of Ice and Fire" Series

Done, done and done.

A great series full of excellent characters, dark intrigues and startling plot twists. From the prologue of A Game of Thrones to the epilogue of A Storm of Swords the series is great...

But not finished.

It was only around the time I began A Clash of Kings that I realised that there was way to much going on the books for it to finish by the end of the third book, and looking online I discovered that, indeed, the series is FAR from over. Apparently, George R. R. Martin expects it to be as long as perhaps seven books.

However, when I came up with this list I knew only of the three first books, and it was the three books that I set out to read. I have, so I'd say that's another notch off my list.

That said, I WILL read A Feast for Crows when it comes out...

#29. Massage Therapist

Nita and I went to for some massage therapy this evening. It was quite enjoyable as I have never been to a professional masseur before.

We actually went to a massage school called Makami College, where professional massage therapists are trained, and for the unbelievable price of $15 and hour we enjoyed a very soothing and relaxing hour.

So, that about wraps up #29.

In other news, I'm almost done reading George R. R. Martin's first three books in the "Songs of Ice and Fire" (re: Game of Thrones) series. I've since learned that he's not done the series, and it will probably cap off at seven books. Since I only knew of three when I wrote this up, I'll be satisfied with that.

Also, I've got three more Fighting Fantasy CYOA books, so I only need another seven.

And in the past few weeks I managed to sneak in American Beauty, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. That three more down, so I believe I've only got about 15 more movies to go, and about four more months to do it in.
